Mexican Tulip

With free-motion embroidery, it takes a little bit of work to simulate shading. However, one of the easiest ways to show shading is crosshatching different colors of thread. Up close, your eye sees a lot of different lines, but if you back up a couple of yards, you get the shading effect.
But why a Mexican tulip? When I was in Puerto Vallarta, I remember seeing this single beautiful bright red tulip in someone’s window box. I’ve never forgotten how perfect a single tulip can appear.
