Before my grandmother passed away, she gave me her sewing machine and the opal earrings that she had worn every day for as long as I can remember. Such precious memories. How it made me smile when I saw the HUSQVARNA VIKING® OPAL™ sewing machine in the store! I'm thrilled to be able to teach my daughters how to sew on it.
I grew up with a closet full of dresses that my grandmother made for me. She taught me the basics and I started creating designs from fabric scraps.

When Sophie created this beautiful bedspread quilt, piecing was done easily using the SEWING ADVISOR® feature. Sophie simply selected the material and the sewing technique, and the SEWING ADVISOR® automatically determined all the settings. In addition, the large sewing area provided plenty of space for the stippling.
Sophie simply touched Woven Medium and Seam in the exclusive SEWING ADVISOR® to start piecing her large patchwork tablecloth. At the end of each seam she would touch the Automatic Thread Cutter and the thread ends were drawn to the backside of the fabric. As she approached the final assembly, Sophie was happy she had the 8" (200mm) large sewing area that fit her tablecloth.
When Sophie created a label for her multi-colored quilt, the built-in sewing fonts truly came in handy – not to mention the monochrome touchscreen making programming even easer! While sewing the quote, the OPAL™ 670 sewing machine alerted Sophie that she was about to run out of thread, but since there's always enough thread on the bobbin to finish the present stitch, she was able to sew the first row of lettering before winding a new bobbin. Another great built-in assistance feature!
Being a mother of two with a busy schedule means you always have a lot to carry, so Sophie made herself a beautiful tote bag. Using the built-in Sewing Fonts, Sophie personalized a label and – in addition – she added some extra 7mm wide decorative stitches for the perfect finish!
When Sophie created a label for her Tote Bag, the built-in sewing fonts of course came in handy. In addition, seeing the text appear in real size on the Monochrome touch screen before sewing made programming as easy as could be. Sophie also made sure to save her stitch program in one of the OPAL™ 670 sewing machine's many memories. And towards the end, when the thread was about to run out, Sophie was saved by the Bobbin Thread Sensor. To think – sewing a quote could be that easy!
So much fabric, so little time! Sophie´s grateful for the exclusive SEWING ADVISOR® feature. It sets the OPAL™ machine automatically to ensure the best results – even in stretch materials, such as the one Sophie used here. What a time-saver!
Baking together is fun for Sophie and the kids, but creating matching aprons takes the fun to a whole new level! Choosing stitches for the aprons was easy as Sophie could see the 7mm decorative stitches in real size on the Monochrome Screen before sewing them. And, of course, Sophie also loves the convenience of the SEWING ADVISOR® feature when assembling her projects!
Sophie thought it would make her kids smile to have a playful Scotty Dog pillow for the living room couch. While piecing the pillow, Sophie frequently used the Automatic Thread Cutter. She then went on to enhance the whimsical pillow with beautiful 7mm decorative stitches. And with all the built-in assistance, everything became so easy it almost felt like magic!
When Sophie's daughter saw this dress in a magazine, she begged mom to make it! The exclusive SEWING ADVISOR® feature especially saved time and effort as this dress is made of stretch material. Sophie simply selected the material and sewing technique, and the SEWING ADVISOR® instantly set the sewing settings for her.
Sophie could not make one daughter a dress without making the other daughter one too! Luckily, mastering the art of great buttonholes was easy using the Sensor One-Step Buttonhole Foot. Sophie simply selected Buttonhole from the SEWING ADVISOR® feature and followed the instructions on the Graphic Display – and voilà: there she had perfectly balanced buttonholes!
