The Winners
1st prize in the contemporary category
Inge Mardal and Steen Hougs from France were awarded first prize in the contemporary category. Their quilt is called ”Admirable Admiral” and features a butterfly during a brief moment of rest.
Runner up prize in the traditional category
Canadian Kathy K. Wylie was awarded second prize in the traditional category for ”The Lord is my Shepherd”. Kathy told us that she finds her strength with God.
1st prize in the traditional category
Kazuko Funabasama of Japan won first prize in the traditional category for her ”Millennium Star”. The quilt is made from 2000 pieces of fabric.
Runner up prize in the contemporary category
Runner up in the contemporary category was Tricia Spitzmueller and Betsy Shannon, USA, with their quilt ”Centered”. It presents a young dancer who arrrvived the attacks in New York on September 11th. After the terrifying event she found her inner strengths – love and light.
