The Log Cabin Pattern
A very popular traditional pattern in Europe and the USA is the Log Cabin Pattern.
Strips are joined into blocks, where one half of each block is sewn in a darker fabric and the opposite in a lighter fabric. The square in the middle of the quilt symbolizes a fireplace, the hearth of the log cabin and can be light or dark – red or black.
There are many variations on the log cabin pattern, including pineapples, roof joists, rail tracks, grooves and windmill blades.
