Facts about VSM Group AB

VSM Group AB develops, produces, markets and sells high quality household sewing machines and related accessories and software that enhance the joy of creative sewing.

VSM Group AB develops two great brands, Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff, each with their own unique and separate product lines. The headoffice of VSM Group is located in Huskvarna, Sweden.

VSM Group has sales companies and representative offices in the following 17 countries: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, Switzerland, The Czech Rebublic, The Netherlands and USA. Through agents the company is represented in about fourty countries around the world.

VSM Group in Huskvarna works very actively with quality and the principals of TQM (Total Quality management) and Kaizen (constant improvements). The company is certified for quality according to SS-EN ISO 9001:1994 and since December 1999 also for its enviromental policies SS-EN ISO 14001:1996.

Husqvarna is founded as a royal armourer’s workshop.

1757
The company gets a private owner.

1872
The first Husqvarna sewing machine is produced.

1949
Husqvarna sewing machines are introduced in USA, under the brand name Viking.

1979
Husqvarna joins the Electrolux-concern.

1990
The sewing machine production concentrates to a separate company, Husqvarna Sewing Machines AB.

1997
Husqvarna Sewing Machines separates from the Electrolux-concern to form Viking Sewing Machines AB with Industri Kapital as owner.

1998
The brand Husqvarna Viking is introduced globally.

1999
Viking Sewing Machines AB acquires British software company Embroidery Networks Ltd, now Viking Emnet Ltd.

2000
Viking Sewing Machines AB acquires Pfaff Household Sewing Machines.

2002
The 130th anniversary of sewing machine production is celebrated.
