I am “sew” happy to be able to share with you, a lot of sewing inspiration, tips and hints as well as provide an “inside” look at what is going on in the factory at HUSQVARNA VIKING®. I´ll share updates and sneak peaks of our new products, and my personal opinion on the new exciting features of our products. You will be the first to know about items you won’t be able to live without! The blog will be updated weekly and of course I will also share what I am sewing, quilting, and testing, as well as fun stories from my trips.
A little summary of my background.
Sewing has been a part of my life ever since I was little. I started to sew with my grandma, when I was around six years old. When I had got my first Barbie doll, I created garments for the doll, by using small scrap pieces and buttons that my grandma had cut off old worn-out clothes. I got the inspiration of what to create, from little leaflet that came inside the Barbie package, that that featured so many Barbie fashions.
In Sweden, learning textile art is a subject in school, for all students (both boys and girls) starting from the third grade until the ninth grade. During this class when we learned how to use the sewing machine, we started to practise to sewing “straight” on paper templates (please see image to the right). We had to be able to follow the line with the needle of the sewing machine (using the sewing machine with no thread) to pass. Then I did sew my first project, a flat green teddy bear decorated with stitches and buttons (please see image below). I keep it in my office in Huskvarna where I have now been working since January 2000.
I am so lucky that I got the job as an International Educator here at HUSQVARNA VIKING® -- it has been “sew” much fun! I have been fortunate to travel around the world, teaching, and sharing the inspiration for sewing on the fantastic HUSQVARNA VIKING® products. My favorite thing is to test where the “limits” are on all products, I want to achieve things that no-one else has been able to so far.
During the years I have held several different positions, which has given me a deep knowledge in all the areas: sewing machines, overlock machines, software and after sales products. I am involved in discussions at an early stage in product development, and at these meetings I have the possibility to give feedback on features, the look of the product, and wanted features among a lot of other things. We work as a great team, and share the goal to create the “joy of sewing” for all our customers. I am in an environment where I can use my creativity and “my flexible brain” (one of my managers said that it is a positive thing), working with the best of products.
At work and at home, I sew all the time! Sewing at home is something my husband and 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls) are very used to now. My two daughters are sewing too so it’s quite possible you’ll see some of their creations on this blog as well!
I hope you will find lots of useful information regarding all kinds of sewing. I will be writing every week, so do continue to visit my blog. If you have any questions regarding the topic of the week in the blog, please email me at:
Please write in English (even though I understand a few different languages). I will be happy to answer questions and feedback on the blog and the topic of the week.
