Circular Attachment

Posted by Carina Thavelin

Have you seen the new Circular Attachment that just got launched? I think this is one of the most creative accessories we have launched in a long time. I know it all started with a request for a tool to make perfect circles but it has grown to become so much more.
You can create circles, flowers and more only your imagination is the limit. I have only played with it for a few hours and this is what I have created so far….

The star circle top
I don’t know where I got my idea with the star and circle, it might have been something with a bulls eye…
I’m very much into stars right now, just love the shape of them. This was a nice way to combine the two. I cut out and added fusible web to the back of the star and then ironed it on the fabric.

It’s important to find the exact center of the star and then you just sew straight stitch circles with the circular attachment. Then I made a simple oversize top from the fabric.

I just wanted to try out the different decorative stitches with the circular attachment so I created a pillow with applique circles and stitches. It’s not really done yet but soon…

I know that several colleagues have tried it and created wonderful flowers, circles, and even teddybears? :) I haven't seen them yet but hope to show you soon.

Just hoping that it will soon be available for the Designer SE. Also hope that it is not really over priced as us fixed income sewers have a hard time getting all these extra fun accessories. Love sewing and having fun with all the new things that come out.

I just wanted to add to the requests to make one of these for the Designer SE since I've watched the video on YouTube and would LOVE to have one of these for myself.

Hi Cyndy,
So many customers love the Circular Attachment and we have got the wish for a version that fits the older models. We are now looking in to that possibility :)

Love this tool. Have used it a lot on different projects. Just wondering what machine Max was using it on. Its not for the SE etc. Very sloppy in the holes, even though it fits.

I wish it fit the Designer 1 and Designer SE any chance of an updated version for the older machines.

Hi Max,
Sorry to hear that. I checked with the product manager and we have sold over 3,000 Circular Attachments so far, way over expectations.

This comment is new to us but when we first launched it we needed to explain that first you attach the hook in the right hole and then the left. The design of the attachment makes it fit in the holes tightly.
To make sure there’s no problems with your Circular Attachment, bring it to your dealer and they can have a look at it together with you.
Hope you will be inspire to create new things!

I haven't been too happy with this attachment. It doesn't screw down and loosens after use causing havoc with the tension. I've had to er tighten the clamps during use. Also had to tighten the upper thread tension or bobbin thread nests. Alternatively, I have no problems using a thumb tack taped to the left of the needle. The templates look great I just wish it worked as advertised.

Thank you all for yor nice comments, I will continue to show inspirational pictures with different ideas.

Pat, the star is made from faux leather, I wanted a fabric that doesn't fray since the straight stitch is only holding it in place in some places.

I have been waiting for this wonderful tool. I would love to have one to help me vent my creative side!

Well I really didn't think that I NEEDED this foot but after seeing your creation, I think I NEED it now!
Very nicely done. Can you tell us or me, what is the fabric that the star is done on? I see that you stabilized it and put it on but I am curious to know about the content of the fabric itself?
Thanks Pat M
