Christmas Tunic

Posted by Carina Thavelin
Last week we had our annual Christmas table dinner with work. It’s a nice tradition that everybody is looking forward to. I have had a half-finished project laying around for a couple of weeks; you know the UFO’s that we all have, where we kind of got stuck. For me it was the pattern, I had embroidered and embellished the fabric, and knew what I wanted but wasn’t sure which pattern to use. When the Christmas Party was coming up I knew it was time to finish it, the Christmas tunic!

I used silk chiffon that I pre-washed for shrinkage. The ethnic embroidery is sewn with a silver metallic thread and can be found on My Embroideries.com I duplicated the design four times in the Majestic Hoop. I wanted 6 repeats in total so I had to ree-hoop and add 2 more. That is so easy since I have Design Positioning on my Designer Diamond. It matched up perfectly.

I used a Pictogram Pen to draw the lines in-between and then I added some beautiful candlewicking stitches in rows, still with the water soluble Aqua Magic underneath. For best result, use the Candlewicking Foot, it has a larger groove underneath the foot that is needed for a stitch that high..
When I cut my pattern, whick I usually do when the embroideries and decorations are done, I used a  basic tunic with wide sleeves.

I am very happy with it and got a lot of comliments at the Christmas Party. I will definately wear it again!

Before Christmas time I would like to share some wonderful news with you;

We are all so happy to have Lena Kantis back with us! With her return she will be taking over the role she loves as the HUSQVARNA VIKING® blogger. I know she really missed all of you!
I will miss you as well, but I know you will be well inspired and well taken care of by Lena. I have been given an exciting assignment to start the first-ever PFAFF® blog so if you find time to visit me you are always welcome! No matter the brand one thing is always true - both Lena and I love sewing. Sewing for ourselves. For Others. For Each Other. Whatever the situation…we love sewing and brands that care about their consumers so in the end we are both really lucky and hope to continue to have the privilege of your visits and insights and engagement for many years to come.

Happy Holidays!

Love the photo of the finished project, but would like to see the others as well. Only the first one came through.

Also, would you please share the pattern (name and number) you used to make the tunic? Thank you!

Sounds like your project was stunning but only one picture came through of your Christmas outfit. I would love to see more.

Merry Christmas
