5D Cross Stitcher

Posted by Carina Thavelin

One of my favorite parts of the 5D™ Professional is the small but fun program called Cross Stitcher(also available as add-on or Free-standing program). Here you can create cross stitch embroideries automatically from a picture or create your design, stitch by stitch, among other things. The possibilities are endless.

Here are some of the things I have created recently:

The pillow above is my latest project. I wanted to create a true traditional rose pattern but I could'nt find a nice picture to digitize automatically. What to do?
I took an old cross stitch pattern of a rose and painted the crosses in. You might think this would be tedious work but it was'nt. It just took 20 min. When I finished the first rose and leaf, I could just copy and paste it again, and again.
The cool thing is that you can decide the size of your crosses and how many times it will stitch. These crosses are 6mm wide and stitched 8 times. This gives it a hand stitched heritage look. I love it!

I also used the same technique for the embroideries of this dress.
The inspiration came from one of the sample cross stitch embroideries that we have in some of the Designer embroidery machines.
I wanted bigger crosses, so I used the Cross Stitch Program to re-create it.
Yes, it took a while to embroider, but I think it was worth it!

We made this hanging tapestry type of picture for my colleague Lenas birthday a couple of weeks ago. It is one of her favorite sayings in Swedish and it means that "it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission". I created it in Cross Stitcher by using the built-in font Old English and then added some cute roses, also built-in in the program. It just took me a few minutes and I think it looks super cute. Lena had a laugh and was really happy about her personalized gift :)

You van read more about the programs here:

It is also available as a Free-standing program, Inspira Cross Stitcher

Now I am leaving the office for a few weeks, it's time for summer holiday, but first I will take a sewing class. Next week I will be sewing together with my colleague Kerstin in a class held by the very talented teacher Mikael Svensson. I will take many pictures and show you what we have been up to.

Kram
