Soft and Sweet Baby Toy

This little toy is made of soft velour and with four different types of ribbons. The metallic ribbon has a funny texture to it. The eyes of the toy are embroidered, but you could also sew them as appliqués. Your choice!

What You Need:
  • HUSQVARNA VIKING® sewing and embroidery machine
  • Small piece of velour
  • Different types of ribbons approx. 4” (10cm) long
  • Small pieces of black and white felt fabric (for eyes)
  • Rayon embroidery thread (for eyes and mouth)
  • INSPIRA® Tear-A-Way stabilizer
  • Fiber fill or wadding

Hoop velour with stabilizer and embroider the face of the toy. The eyes are made as appliqués.

Remove excess stabilizer.

Print and cut out the template for the baby toy. Cut a hole in the template where the eyes are to make it easier to position the template on the embroidered fabric.

Place the template on the embroidered fabric so that the eyes are visible through the template. Cut out the front piece (seam allowance is included in the template).

Add Hair to the Toy
Take the front piece and place right side up. Fold the ribbons in half and place them on the toys’ head as pictured below. Pin in place.

Place the fabric for the back of the toy right side up. Place the front piece on top, right side down as pictured below.

Sew together with a straight stich, using the width of the presser foot as seam allowance. Leave an opening for turning at the side of the toy. Be careful not to catch any of the ribbons in the seam.

Trim the front and back to equal size.

Turn right side out and fill with fiber fill. Stitch the opening closed.
