1. Pattern
Print and cut out all pattern pieces for the tie. Pattern pieces marked A and B are facing pieces. Tape pattern pieces C-F together to create the wide part of the tie. Tape pattern pieces G-I together to create the narrow pattern piece of the tie (see illustration below).

2. Cut
Cut all pieces in both fabric and interfacing (seam allowance is included)
Press the interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric pieces. Depending on what sort of a fabric you are using, you might not need interfacing on the small facing pieces.

3. Embroider
Fold the tie lengthwise and mark the centerline on the wide piece with a marking pen. Make a horizontal line to mark where you intend to place the center of the embroidery.

Hoop the fabric with tear-away stabilizer. Position the embroidery on the tie using the marking lines you have drawn and adjust the starting position on your embroidery machine.

Embroider the design. Remove the stabilizer and cut the jump stitches.

Assemble the Tie
4. Pin the diagonal edge of the long pieces, right sides together. Sew with a straight stitch and use the presser foot width as seam allowance. Press the seam open. The tie is now its full length.

5. Pin the facing pieces to the wide and narrow parts of the tie, right sides together, and straight stitch along the edge. Activate the needle down function to turn the corners. Trim the seam, turn and press carefully.

6. Fold the tie length wise, right side together and pin. Sew the tie together placing the edge of presser foot on the already sewn straight stitch.

Carefully press the long seam open. Turn the tie right side out.

Press the tie carefully.
