Husqvarna Viking Announces Recall of Designer I Sewing and Embroidery Machine

February 2006

(TORONTO, ON)  Husqvarna Viking announced today a voluntary recall of the following consumer product.  Consumers should stop using the recalled product immediately and contact their local Husqvarna Viking dealer.

Husqvarna Viking is voluntarily initiating a program to replace the transformer component on certain Husqvarna Viking Designer I sewing and embroidery machines.

Husqvarna Viking believes that the transformer component of its Husqvarna Viking Designer I sewing and embroidery machine has a small risk of overheating and could, in rare circumstances, result in electrical arcing, which could cause a fire.  Husqvarna Viking implemented a change to this component in February 2004 and there have been no reported incidents involving machines manufactured after this date.  Husqvarna Viking is not aware of any injuries associated with this product.

This safety notice applies to Husqvarna Viking Designer I sewing and embroidery machines manufactured from January 1999 through February 2004.  The serial numbers of the Husqvarna Viking Designer I sewing and embroidery machines subject to this recall are as follows:
