We all know that little girl’s all over the world love to dance and dress up like little prima ballerina princesses. They share a dream of becoming real ballerinas one day. That is why sewing a ballerina dress for someone special can be one of the most exciting projects you’ll ever make especially if the little ballerina is part of the sewing experience.

Sharing the life skill of sewing with your daughter, or granddaughter, is a great gift to give her. Being there for all the “Mom, how do I do this?” or “Mom, what’s the best way to do that?” Teaching her the basics of sewing which will be passed down through the generations. Sewing Supplies

  • Husqvarna Viking Sewing machine
  • Husqvarna Viking Huskylock (optional)
  • Girl’s Dress pattern with fitted sleeveless bodice and full skirt
  • Dupioni/Thai Silk Fabric, see pattern for yardage
  • Notions as specified by pattern
  • Fabric for Butterfly Ballerina Overskirt (lay out the skirt pattern from above and figure out how many yards of fabric are needed for one skirt)

    TIER 1:
  • Pink organza, 2 layers (purchase double the skirt yardage for pattern)
  • Soft tulle, 1 layer (skirt yardage for pattern)

    TIER 2:
  • Checked pink/white light woven fabric, 2 layers (double the skirt yardage for pattern)
  • Soft tulle, (skirt yardage for pattern).

    TIER 3:
  • Pink organza, 2 layers, (double the skirt yardage for pattern)
  • Soft tulle, 1 layer, (double the skirt yardage for pattern)
  • 1” (24mm) wide Satin Ribbon (double length to go around child’s waist and tie with ends hanging to floor.
